[
]Industries in a bid to increase production often ignore worker health and safety. Policies need to be set and revised annually to improve the worker's environment. Lucky Alloys a division of the Lucky Group shows us how vital worker health and safety is to a company

The manufacturing industry is one of the most demanding environments an individual could ever work in. The number of dangers a worker in a factory is exposed to often exceeds the benefits of the job. The hazards that a worker is exposed to can come in many forms. Extremely loud noise for prolonged periods often leads to hearing loss. While exposure and handling of certain harmful chemicals may lead to the worker falling ill; moreover the worker may fall ill gradually after continuous inhalation of certain chemicals over extended periods of time. Excess vibration or even sparks and metal filings from cutting machines can be dangerous without the necessary precautions.

Many industries the world over often ignore health and safety norms because they claim they cannot afford it. Unions fight for their rights and companies find them unnecessary which eventually leads to strikes and huge losses. The simple solution is to take care of each and every danger that a worker in the plant would face. Moreover manufacturing plants and industries should always set safety norms before setting up and avoid such instances altogether.

Lucky Alloys is a Dubai based secondary and semi-primary aluminum alloy manufacturing facility that takes worker health and safety seriously. They follow strict policies at all levels of the work environment. These include detailed training and clear communication of instructions to all employees. Lucky Alloys is the alloy manufacturing division of the Lucky Group of companies which is based on a foundation that follows the best industry standards in terms of cleanliness, work environment and pollution. Moreover the company also updates their health policies regularly. Occupational Health and Safety in legal aspects ? - 25 Jun 2016 13:40

[
]The current legislative approach of control of workplace risks through performance based legislation outlined by general duties and underpinned by regulation replaced the doctrines of common employment, voluntary assumption of risk and contributory negligence, which were used as a defence against employee claims of negligence.

The commission into workplace safety recommended the development of generic performance-based occupational health and safety legislation to establish in law the employer's duty of care, through a system of (at least) communication, training and self regulation. Mirroring these developments, the 1980 NSW Williams Inquiry also recommended enactment of performance based occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation that covered all workers and all workplaces in NSW. This led to enactment of the NSW Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) in 1983. Similar legislation has now been enacted in all states and territory jurisdictions in Australia.

Reforms and amendments to OHS legislation (such as the 2000 revision of the NSW OHS Act and consolidation of the NSW regulations in 2001) and including increasing penalties have increased awareness in improving OHS in workplaces.

This legislation, which outlines general duties and encourages consultation between employers and employees, does not prescribe the systems that employers should implement to comply with such legislation, although competency training, hazard or risk assessments, control of OHS risks, incident investigation, workers compensation and rehabilitation are considered common OHS activities in most organisations. Compliance activities to OHS legislation have therefore developed unsystematically, and systems that contribute to good OHS are not well known.

If any worker on site gets injured under OHS the company is held liable and must be accountable, regardless if its a new worker, or volunteer, they still are included as employees.

Hope this helps :)[

Not all samples will be perfect, but you'll get a good idea. When you are seeking money, you want to focus on the need, and what the money actually goes to. Be sure to explain exactly why you need the money, as you will if you use these sample letters asking for donations.

Dear friends,

As most of you know, I am involved with project x at the school. At project x, we donate money to the local food pantry. Our donations are used to help feed those less fortunate, who simply cannot afford the basic essentials of life. It's a great cause, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

This year, I am once again asking for monetary donations to help full up the shelves at the local pantry. With the current state of the economy, it's become even more important to raise money to keep the food shelter going. My goal is to raise $500 to help those in need. Will you please consider a monetary donation to project x? Your donation may be used as a tax deduction.

Warm regards,

John Doe

Events:

Sample letters asking for donations that have to do with events should be done a little bit differently. For these types, you want to focus much of the attention on the event itself. By doing this, you will capture the interest of those that aren't necessarily interested in the cause your trying to raise funds for. You are, to a certain extent, inviting them to the event, not asking for anything. It almost is more like asking a friend to do something with you, than a letter asking for donations. Give this sample a try.

Dear John,

As you know, I am a proud member of project x. As you know, we raise money for the local food pantry. Our donations help keep the food pantry open, so those less fortunate can fill their most basic needs. I would like to personally invite you, my friend, to join me. We plan to raise $500 dollars this year for the food pantry. Admission is just $5 for adults, and free for kids. All workers at the event are volunteers, so we can donate all the money we raise to the food pantry!

Looking forward to seeing you,

John Doe

Making It Right:

Obviously, you will need to tailor your letter to meet your needs. Be sure to include accurate amounts that you are trying to raise, and don't try to puff or stretch the information you're giving. If you exaggerate, you lose credibility. If you lose credibility, your cause will as well. These sample letters asking for donations may help to increase your fund raising success. Give them a try.

Making It Personal:

If possible, replace the "dear friends" portion of these sample letters asking for donations with individual names. This will be more work, but it will get better results. Whenever possible, this is preferred. By doing his, you are making more of a connection with the reader, increasing the chances of receiving support for your cause. In the event that this just isn't possible, go ahead with the more generic greeting, but keep it professional and friendly. Either way, it will look professional.

An Added Touch:

Include something extra in the envelope, other than the sample letters asking for donations that you've just reviewed. For those using an event to raise the funds, you may be able to include a personal invitation. This would make it feel more personal, and therefore, may very well get better results, at least in most cases. If you are using the sample letters asking for donations that are tailored for cash gifts, as in the first example, you could easily include a flier about your cause. In the example used, you could simply attach a flier for the food pantry. This will help the reader make the connection easier. Even if you don't raise additional funds, you will likely raise awareness. This will help to improve the effectiveness of your fundraising, and may yield more money raised for your cause.

Tracking Results:

Track the results of the sample letters asking for donations that you use. You will find that some are just more effective than others. When you track, you'll be more likely to succeed in the future. By tracking the results of sample letters asking for donations, you can use the same basic template year after year, ensuring fundraising success. Tracking the results of your sample letters asking for donations is an important thing to do.

These sample letters asking for donations are just a couple of examples you can use. If you are raising money for a good cause, you are more than welcome to use these sample letters asking for donations. OSHA Safety and Health Regulations for the Construction Industry - 05 Jun 2016 18:23

[
]OSHA safety and health regulations have, since 1970, the ultimate goal of making the workplace safer for all construction workers, and should be vital knowledge for those who work in the construction industry.

While there are more OSHA regulations existing than what the average construction worker, manager, or owner could ever memorize, a few do manage to stand out not only because of their importance and relevance to everyday tasks, but also for their impact on the worker's health and wellness. These few are listed below, however, do keep in mind that there are quite a number of other regulations that are equally as important to ensure employee safety while at the workplace.

Fall Protection (OSHA 1926.0501)

The most common citation issued to the construction industry as a whole, fall protection fines have amounted to over $20 million in 2014 alone from over 7,000 citations - an alarming amount considering that OSHA-related fines for the same year from the entire construction industry amounted to $61 million. Falls also account for almost 37% of the total deaths in construction in the same year, which clearly indicates that there is a dire need for construction workers and business owners to absolutely abide by this regulation.

Training Requirements (OSHA 1926.0503)

Employees in the construction industry must be trained on the proper use of the entire range of machines and equipment that they may encounter on the job. They must use correct and proper safety equipment, be fully aware of ladder safety, and follow the general job site safety guidelines at the workplace as imposed by OSHA. Also, construction industry workers must understand and satisfactorily execute appropriate measures when dealing with or managing dangerous or hazardous materials. Training courses, such as the Hazwoper training, are designed to help employees both old and new to understand these important safety requirements.

Ladder Safety (OSHA 1926.1053)

About 7% or over $4 million of the total penalties issued by OSHA to construction companies in 2014 was attributed to ladder safety. This regulation is of great importance for the construction industry as not following it would result not only to heavy fines, but also to falls, and possibly electrocution risks. It comes as no surprise that ladders are considered to be one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment commonly used in job sites today.

Asbestos Safety (OSHA 1926.1101)

Violations for asbestos safety is relatively much lower than fall protection or ladder safety concerns. However, understanding it is very important in order to avoid putting workers' lives in danger in the long run by placing them at risk for exposure to asbestos. A number of reliable organizations offer training courses on asbestos safety, which provide employees with the skills and knowledge on how to deal with asbestos-related concerns at the job site.

Workplace safety is the responsibility of the business owner, and so is making sure that employees are trained sufficiently to be able to work effectively and productively while avoiding construction accidents. By following the safety rules and regulations for the construction industry as set by OSHA, accidents and devastating financial Occupational Health and Safety in South Africa losses in the form of fines can be avoided.

http://www.examiner.com/article/osha-safety-and-health-regulations-for-the-construction-industry

[

Health & Fitness :: HIPAA And Your Work Place - 05 Jun 2016 06:03

[
]On April 21, 2005, a new Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security rule went into effect. The requirements of this rule, which are basically information security best practices, focus on the three cornerstones of a solid information security infrastructure: confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.

The HIPAA regulatory requirements encompass transmission, storage and discoverability of Protected Health Information (PHI). Given the widespread use and mission-critical nature of email, enforcement of HIPAA encryption policies and the growing demand for secure email solutions, email security has never been more important to the healthcare industry than it is right now.

Although many assume it applies only to health care providers, HIPAA affects nearly all companies that regularly transmit or store employee health insurance information. HIPAA was signed into law in 1996 by former President Bill Clinton, with the intent of protecting employee health and insurance information when workers changed or lost their jobs. As Internet use became more widespread in the mid-to-late 1990s, HIPAA requirements overlapped with the digital revolution and offered direction to organizations needing to exchange healthcare information.

HIPAA in the Workplace Collaboration between employers and healthcare professionals has grown increasingly digital, and email has played an ever-increasing role in this communication. However, email's increased importance can lead to severe consequences without proper security and privacy measures implemented.

In addition to the usual concerns about privacy and security of email correspondence, even organizations that are not in the healthcare industry must now consider the regulatory compliance requirements associated with HIPAA. The Administrative Simplification section of HIPAA, which, among other things, mandates privacy and security of Protected Health Information (PHI), has sparked concern about how email containing PHI should be treated in the corporate setting. HIPAA, as it relates to email security, is an enforcement of otherwise well-known best practices that include:

* Ensuring that email messages containing PHI are kept secure when transmitted over an unprotected link

* Ensuring that email systems and users are properly authenticated so that PHI does not get into the wrong hands

* Protecting email servers and message stores where PHI may exist

Organizations regulated by HIPAA must comply and put these practices in place. However, the need to comply with regulations puts particular pressure on the healthcare industry to enhance their use of technology and "catch up" with other industries of similar size and scope.

Privacy and Email Security The privacy protection provisions in HIPAA pose a major compliance challenge for the healthcare industry. These provisions are intended to protect patients from disclosure of any of their individually identifiable health information. Organizations that fail to protect this information face fines ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 for each instance of unauthorized disclosure. If the disclosure is found to be intentional, HIPAA provides for fines ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 and possible jail time for individuals involved in the violations.

The clock is ticking - it's time to get started Bringing an enterprise into compliance with the rules set by HIPAA can seem like a very daunting task to even the most experienced executives. Nonetheless, the growing dependence on email as a mission-critical application requires that your organization implement comprehensive security and privacy policies - and soon. A solid combination of security policies and the technologies to enforce those policies can ensure improved security as well as HIPAA readiness and ongoing adherence.

[
